Sea Chanty Camp 2012
The goal of the 2012 Sea Chanty Camp is to sing. The work songs of the sea can only be really appreciated when they are sung in a group. Whether aboard ship or in a song circle, the fun and usefulness of group or community singing can be easily shared. There are those, however, for whom the song circle and chanty sing are not enough and they’d like to learn more. Sea Chanty Camp is for those folks and singing will be the chief activity.
Sea Chanty Camp 2012 will be held on April 21st at the Willapa Seaport Museum in Raymond, WA. Raymond is located at the head of the beautiful Willipa Bay in SW Washington. The museum is a wonderful collection of local and regional maritime heritage. It’s a place that’s worth the trip all by itself.
There’ll also be an evening concert, at the museum, by the faculty. The concert will benefit the museum.
Faculty
Hank Cramer will be returning to lead the program and the evening concert. Joining him will be a cadre of the best chanty singers in the region. Burt & Di Meyer of the Budd Bay Buccaneers, Dan Roberts of Victory Sings at Sea, Matthew Moeller of the Whateverly Brothers and Tugboat Bromberg. Completing the faculty will be Pete Darrah, Director and principal force behind the museum.
